I grew up in Silicon Valley and have always loved new technology.  When I took my first bookkeeping class I found that I also loved everything about accounting! Starting out, I used to do my husband’s company books by hand, and while technology has changed the “how” we do bookkeeping, the basics remain the same.

Clean books are the foundation for understanding the story your business is telling you. When I’m not interpreting numbers, you’ll often find me in the kitchen making jam with the delicious fruits available to me here in California.  Recently I started doing Pilates and have surprised myself by how much I enjoy it. I also love spending time outdoors – the beach and mountains are my favorites.

I have always been fascinated by numbers. To me, numbers are the keys to solving mysteries and getting answers.  As I started working in bookkeeping I found that this applies to business as well.

Advancing technology has married numbers with another of my favorite things – storytelling.  I find it thrilling to help business owners understand the story that their business is telling.

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our energetic border collie. We often go for walks in our neighborhood or hike in nearby hills. Being a Gilroy, California native, I am also fond of cooking with large amounts of garlic. My favorite pastime is gathering loved ones around a table to talk and laugh.

When I first started in accounting, I worked in a traditional 9-5 desk job in an office.  My whole day consisted of data entry. Now with technology, instead of typing numbers into a spreadsheet, my focus is on helping business owners find solutions to their challenges.

Often, business owners come to us with a set of books in total disarray.  I get excited about these type of projects because I enjoy bringing order to the chaos.

Outside of work, my husband and I spend a lot of time volunteering in our community. We are also big foodies, so we like to experiment with cooking dishes from various cultures. I also love the outdoors. In the cooler months, you might find me crocheting gifts for my friends or curled up with a good book and a nice scotch.

I never thought I’d end up in bookkeeping; sitting at a desk is not my thing.  But life has a way of throwing you curveballs and once I got married, I started helping my mom (Cindy) with some small tasks.  Not long after, I realized there was much more to bookkeeping than I knew or imagined.  Oh, and these days I don’t have to sit at a desk.  As long as there’s Wifi, I can work wherever I please.

I love interacting with our clients and helping them run their business smoothly.  Writing blog posts and managing our social media fits my personality well: I’m social and I like helping people.

Work-life balance is important to me.  In my spare time, I have a personal food blog.  I like to read, listen to podcasts, cook, run and walk outdoors. I love to spend with my husband and corgi too!
