Sometimes its easy to get so excited about a new year and our new goals that we forget to sit back and think of all we’ve accomplished in the previous year. 2017 was a big year for the BBB Team and we would like to share a few of our 2017 highlights with you.
We received two awards in 2017. One of our greatest highlights of 2017 was receiving the 2017 Xero for Partnership Impact Award with our friends from Hubdoc. We were so excited to win this award from Xero. We love being Xero Partners and we love using Hubdoc, so it seemed like a perfect fit for us! Read more about our Xero Award here.
We also named one of Hubdoc’s Top 50 Cloud Accountants for the fourth year in a row!. We are honored to receive this award! We love Hubdoc and use them every day. Read more about the Hubdoc Award here.
2017 was a fun year for us. Even though we mainly work remotely at BBB, we all have a lot of contact with each other throughout the day. Maybe it’s hard to imagine bookkeepers having a good time working, but let me tell you, we know how to have fun.
In 2017 we really worked on our internal processes and communication. Being that we all work remotely, it’s very important that we can communicate effectively. We instituted staff meetings in 2017 in which we all join via Zoom. It’s been a lot of fun and nice to see the BBB Team all at the same time and helps us to be united.
We also started using Slack. If you are not familiar with Slack, Slack is an app that can help to be able to communicate with your team. It is like having internal texting. Sounds nice huh? We think so! By organizing our communication to “channels” we are able to organize conversations and reference them too. Using Slack has dramatically cut down our internal emails and helped us to be more efficient in our workflow.
We really got into using Google Sheets in 2017. One may even say it was the Year of Google Sheets for us. We have a Google Sheet for everything! Google Sheets has helped us to stay organized and on top of our work. We really love Google Sheets and are planning to post a blog post on tips and tricks for Google Sheets later this year, so stay tuned!
Since May 2017 we have been hosting a monthly San Jose Xero Hour. After trying a few spots, we decided that Maggiano’s at Santana Row at lunchtime seems to be a good time and location. Xero Hour provides a forum for local Xero Partners to network and collaborate.
We are always eager to learn more and one way we keep on top of what’s new in the cloud accounting technology world is by attending workshops and conferences. We were so excited at Xerocon Austin in November when Keri Gohman, President Xero Americas, shared a picture of Keri and Cindy and shared a little of Cindy’s story. What about 2018? We have new goals for 2018 and are looking forward to reaching them and working hard!
